Job Description

For this client we are looking for a high-performing Customs Manager to support the growing forwarding business. In addition to standard customs work, you are also responsible for leading the future customs team. You will be responsible for customs compliance content and expertise throughout the company, contributes to development and implementation of new tools, processes and business capabilities. You are operationally responsible for the results and successes of the department. In this position of Customs Manager, you ensure the adherence and processes of customs declarations in your department that are in accordance with the latest laws and regulations. As a customs manager you are responsible for the coordination and controlling of customs activities within your team. You are the specialist and first escalation for your team in customs related- and operational matters. You will be the contact person for our customers with regards to customs technical issues.

KEY ACTIVITIES

  • Create and maintain instructions and documents processes in own responsibility area.
  • Research customs regulations and rulings, determines regulatory or interpretive basis for each classification, and communicates with both internal and external clients.
  • Provide correct and complete documentation, according to the established procedures;
  • Conduct internal audits on processes and procedures, report activities, details and deviations to the site/operations manager and you will support the customs team with developing, implementing and continuously enhancing customs and brokerage procedures.
  • Prepare objection letters to customs authorities and follow up on actions arising from this.
  • Perform compliance activities, such as having contact with customs authorities about complex issues.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • 3+ relevant and demonstrable experience in a similar position of Customs Manager;
  • Good knowledge of current customs legislation;
  • Excellent command of the Dutch and English language, both verbally and in writing;
  • You are stress resistant and you know how to keep a good overview;
  • You are also a proactive team leader with strong organizational skills;
  • A licensed customs broker
  • Working knowledge of trade compliance and agreements;
  • Self-motivation, and who is dynamic and confident;
  • No hesitance in advising customers in line with legislation;
  • You are result-oriented, analytical and you pay attention to details.
