Job Description
As a Supervisor, you are responsible for coordinating the logistics process in one department. You do this together with your team, which includes the Assistant Supervisor, Logistics Administrative staff and other Logistics staff. All departments must achieve the predetermined targets and KPIs on a daily basis. Therefore, you always meet with all Supervisors in the morning to see if the planning is feasible, and what is going on in the departments. You also discuss how the logistics processes went on the previous day(s). Based on this, you decide whether the targets and KPIs need to be adjusted or whether additional staff is needed. The rest of the day you are mainly busy with managing and adjusting the logistics processes in
your department. You can be found on the floor coordinating and measuring progress, but you are also often in the office. There you prepare yourself by working on progress reports: logistics changes daily. A lot of time also goes into personnel planning; you are in regular contact with the Workforce department (they arrange temporary workers) about this. You not only plan the personnel (the day before), but also coach and motivate them and are the contact point for questions and problems.
You plan, coordinate and monitor all day long, so you gain a lot of knowledge about logistics processes and how they can be done better, faster and more efficiently. Based on this you can prepare reports and present your ideas to the Warehouse Manager. Usually, you work in day shifts (08:00 am – 17:00 pm), but it can also happen that you work in two
shifts (06:00 am – 15:00 pm and 15:00 pm – midnight).
